SAS Facilitator Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Exciting news, the wait is over!  We have been working with a creative agency over the last 6 months to enhance your delivery of the SAS Small Group Program through updating the existing SAS Computer Game into a new SAS Digital Headquarters (SAS Digital HQ). Below is a list of general and SAS Facilitator specific questions about the transition to the new SAS Digital HQ.

One of the main aims is to increase device compatibility meaning that core learning activities are now accessible for tablets (e.g. iPad’s), laptops and desktops (subsequently moving the game out of Adobe Flash software). The game now has a fresh look and feel, including clearer navigation pathways through the level activities.

We will also be releasing new functionality such as an integrated Skill Tracker and Progress Dashboard later in 2020. From the 20th of January, 2020 you will be provided with access to the following at no extra cost:

  • Easily accessible software for you and your families;
  • A pre-recorded optional tutorial and transition support materials through your SAS Facilitator Portal in the New Year; and
  • The ability to upgrade your existing product key to transition to using the new digital SAS Headquarters.

  • Fresh look and feel
  • New user interface for both tablets and keyboard/mouse devices allowing for increased device compatibility.
  • Colour scheme choices
  • Adobe Flash Software no longer required
  • Updated fun mini games
  • Reporting dashboards to allow adults to see a player’s progress in game activities and Mission Journal completion.
  • Updated interactive Mission Journal
  • Digitised Emotionometers and Code Cards (coming in March 2020).
  • Digitised option for the Skill Tracker (if doing SAS Small Group Program, coming in March, 2020)
  • Clearer navigation pathways through the level activities for all SAS program types (SAS-SG, SAS-SA & SAS-WOC) allowing for a smoother game flow.

The new SAS Digital HQ is still designed to empower children to learn how to recognise emotions in others, regulate their own emotions, and develop social skills for a range of social challenges. The core learning concepts of each level remain the same, as well as:

  • Access will remain a 1 user profile with a 12 month renewable licence (from date of Product Key activation)
  • Agent Ardon, Junior Detective and the other SAS Cadet characters will continue to support children through game play.
  • The “open_access” code can still be used to flexibly move through the game.
  • The supporting physical resources (e.g emotionometers and code cards) that align with the game remain the same.

Great care was taken in the development process to replicate the existing key learning experiences for children. The new SAS Digital HQ is one component within the evidence-based SAS interventions available.

Core learning activities are designed to be for tablets (e.g. iPad’s), laptops and desktops. Please see next question for detail on technical requirements of these devices.

The Mission Journal, Skill Tracker (for SAS-SG users)*, and E-Telligence Pack* will also be usable on a smaller mobile device.

* These items are aiming to launch across 2020 in a staged approach.

It is planned that the digital HQ will include two types of reporting:

    1. Progress Dashboard

    For viewing individual cadet progress.

    1. Small Group Progress Dashboard

Optional group progress reporting for SAS Facilitators to easily access group and individual reports from one location.

Our SAS Facilitators will receive specialised transition information in January, we will aim to include details of the Progress Dashboard capability and any associated costs (if applicable).

In January, SST will be providing support materials and or updated SAS Facilitator Manual content for you to use.

Any inactivated SAS Product Keys at the time of release of the new SAS Digital HQ will automatically be updated to the new game when they are activated.

If you are commencing your group prior to the release of the new game, you will be activating product keys to play the original Adobe Flash version of the game that you are familiar with.

If you have an active product key using the original version of the game, you can choose to continue playing this version progressively unlocking as you go. Your access to this game will cease when your 12 month licence expires or if Adobe Flash stops working on your device, whichever comes sooner. SST will no longer be supporting technical issues related to Adobe Flash.

Alternatively you may choose to transition to the SAS Digital HQ free of charge.

When you purchase SAS Family Kits, the product key will be the SAS-SG game mode so that children and families are prompted though the SAS Digital HQ aligned with the flow of the SAS Small Group modules.

Content of the psychical E-Telligence Pack and Gadget Pack items remain the same.

    2. transition them to the new game free of charge, noting that they will need to recommence from the beginning. Their data from the current game will no transfer.

To make your choice, please consider the child’s personalities and abilities of the cadets in your group as well as how far you are through the SAS Small Group Program.

The new SAS Digital Headquarters will contain some elements designed for small devices (phones) and other elements that are not recommended and disabled from viewing on small screens.
