Role play board game for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders
The Secret Agent Society (SAS) Challenger Board Game helps children practically apply the social skills that they learn in the SAS Computer Game Pack resources.
These skills include:
- Identifying emotions
- Using appropriate emotion management strategies
- Meeting new people
- Talking to others
- Playing with others
- Making friends
- Dealing with bullying and teasing
- Coping with confusion
- Coping with mistakes
Children practise these skills through role plays with siblings or peers (typically developing or on the autistic spectrum). The board game is to be played after children have attempted the computer game or in conjunction with other social skills curricula.
It is recommended that parents or professionals facilitate the board game over several sittings/sessions, each approximately 20 minutes in length. The game features the characters from the Secret Agent Society Computer Game, and includes physical challenges that children love. An instruction booklet is included to give parents and professionals tips on how to help children get the most out of the game.
